Hollow-Form Rattle

Finally we needed to create a rattle out of clay. I decided to create a skull. I put three little balls inside of it so that when shaken it makes a noise and finally I glazed with a clear finish.

Coil Pot

One of the tougher projects we completed this semester was the coil pot. I designed mine with a handle so that it could be used as a pitcher. I glazed it a matte green and it gives it an interesting look.

Cylinder

Our first project on the wheel was to create a six inch tall cylindrical pot. I glazed it a soothing blue and I think it is a really nice piece.

Slab Box

We created a box in our class out of six 5" by 5" square slabs of clay. Mine has an elephant handle on the lid and each side is a scraffito that shows a different image. One side has a mountain on it, another a tree, the third one has a sunset, and the final side is a geometric design.

Mug

Next in our class we needed to create a mug. I wrote my name on the mug and glazed it in a nice beige color. I stained my name in black and gave it a nice handle that curls at the bottom. The mug was a little difficult to assemble but turned out looking really good at the end.

Pinch Pot

Our first project with clay was making a simple pinch pot. My pot has a foot and  lines on the side that wrap around the whole pot. The pinch pot is a really easy project to make but they can look really good depending on how much effort you put into it.

Wire Sculpture

Our first project of the year was to make a wire sculpture of an animal. Next we had to cover it in paper mache and paint it. The project was a lot of fun and the wires were fun to work with.
